Halloween

So. Growing up, I never celebrated Halloween. It was also synonomous with the "Devil's Day". My mom thought it was wicked and evil, so I never trick-or-treated. I did one of the following two things: 1) went upstairs with my mother and turned off all the lights in the house so that trick-or-treaters wouldn't knock on our door, then we would fall asleep watching movies. I used to love doing this. 2) went to FCF's alternative: Hallelujia Night. Now let me tell you, back in my middle school days, this joint used to be poppin. Alllllll the high school boys would be there checkin' us out and tryna holla. Mr. Clapp would build a maze and that thing was scary as piss. People would pop out and scare you and I vaguely recall having to be let out because I was so scared. Over the years, cute boys stopped showing up and it got boring, but we went faithfully every year until we graduated from high school.

In college, I still don't "celebrate" Halloween. I still believe it's an evil day and I am glad that my mother was so firm in her stance to not let me trick-or-treat. But I do go out. Freshman year, I went to Franklin Street and I dressed up. The one other time in my life that I dressed up, I was an angel for Hallelujia night...which totally doesn't count. But that year I was in full-on costume mode. I remember feeling kind of guilty because despite the fact that I do not celebrate Halloween or support the Holiday, I have a fb album entitled "Franklin Street" that says otherwise...I remember my mother called me and asked if I went out for Halloween, and I lied and said no. She said I was a good girl and that she was proud of me. Made me feel bad.

For as long as I can remember, people have always asked me why I do not celebrate Halloween and what's so bad about the holiday. Look. I'm a Christian, and I believe that Jesus Christ is the Living King and that He saved my soul. Halloween does not sit right with my spirit. This is why I do not watch horro movies. They are demonic and I truly believe that because I have the Holy Spirit in me, that when I watch things like that or pariticipate in Halloween type things, that there is a spiritual war waged within me.

Now you tell me when you see people dressed as monsters, and demons, and devils that this "holiday" aint the most evil thing ever?? An excuse to dress as a slut?? I mean come on. There is validity to my argument. Now I know sound like I'm talkin from my high horse but I'm not. But don't be surprised if you don't see me at your Halloween party dressed up. Cuz it's really not my thing. I still, for the life of me cannot remember what the h i did last year. It's a complete blank. I'm assumin that I didn't do nuthin...

So to all those Halloweeners out there...HAPPY HALLELUJIA NIGHT!!!

Welcome Back, Welcome Back, Welcome Bacccck

For the miniscule amount of you who humor me by reading this blog, I would like to take the time to apologize for not having updated this in over two months. School has sucked out all of my energy. And you would THINK that I would have plenty to write about. And I'm sure I do because occasionally something will happen and I'll be like, "Dang I need to put that on my blog." But it is almost 10am in the morning, I've been up since 6:30, went to bed at 2, haven't had more than 20 hours in the past 7 days. Needless to say, I'm runnin on fumes yall. Bear with me. But I'm bored at work, sooooo I'm blogging. Cuz i just checked my acct. and it's negative which means I can't shop online. Note to self: post rant about Bank of Cunthood. Ahem. I mean Bank of America.

One of the things that has been on my mind is drama. Not necessarily personal drama or anything like that, but just drama in general. It thrives on college campuses. I am a person who avoids drama like the plague but it always manages to get me somehow. I think that if I were a quieter person who wasn't so opinionated and would quit walkin around not givin an eff, I'd probably be a lot more successful at avoiding drama. But. I do not anticipate that happening in the near future. Oh wells.

(now see here, this is unnecessary)

Now here's what gets me about drama. I don't care what anyone says, if there's a drama situation, BOTH sides contributed to it. There are always gonna be lies, manipulation, deceipt, etc. Anybody who tells you that they have never lied or twisted the truth is lying and is probably the biggest antagonizer of drama that you've ever seent. That's what irks me. Lookahere, we've all done things we're not proud of. It's called living life. But if you will not own up to your mistakes, then I cannot respect you as a person. One thing that I make a conscious effort to do is admit when I'm wrong, apologize, and try and rectify the situation. People who do not do that...I just cannot be in their presence.

Now some may be reading this and be like what set Ashley off (or you might be thinking this is the most incoherent thing uve ever read - fair enough. i can barely keep my eyes open right nows). Nothing has set me off, I've just been observing a lot. It's sad and pathetic that people can't let go of drama or that they thrive on it for stupid reasons.

So here's my thing for the day. Let things go. If you can't talk about it with the person. If you can't do that, fine. But do not do things to antagonize the situation or things that may be PERCEIVED as antagonizing the situation. You'll be better for it if you just walked away.
